Unit 3 Blog

Hey everyone!

1) If I was to give my physical, spiritual, and psychological wellbeing a rating between 1-10 it would be as follows. Physical wellbeing 8. Spirtual wellbeing 5. Psychological wellbeing-7. I rated my physical wellbeing as an 8 because even though I feel I am in great shape there is always room to improve. I would be surprised if anyone gave themselves a 10 in physical. Spiritually my number is much lower. I am not a very spiritual person. I know I do need to get more in touch with my spiritual side, or at least find something to believe in. I rated my psychological wellbeing as a 7 because I have not always been the most stable person in the world. I am much better now that I have found happiness. I am keeping the number at a 7 because I never know what the future holds for me psychologically.

2) I can develop goals in each to help me get closer to a 10. Physically I want to get as close as I can to a 10 but not to be perfect. No one is perfect. Spiritually, my goal is to look more deeply within myself. Psychologically, my goal is to stay mentally healthy and not burdening my problems on my friends and family.

3) Physically some of the activities I can do to reach this goal is to stay as active as I can. Also, make sure I am eating well and going to doctors appointments as needed. Spiritually, I would like to start meditating more, that way I can start listening more to my inner self. Psychologically, I would like to start seeing a therapist or start writing in a journal to help with that side of me.

4) I did listen to the audio. It actually sounds really familiar. I think I heard it in my last terms class in stress management. I really do love this audio though. It was very relaxing. I love the visualizations. I love how it related different areas of the body to different colors.

  1. Kristin, great post, I can totally relate. I'm very uncertain of spirituality and have a hard time disconnecting it from belief in a higher being. I'm not sure what spirituality means for the non-believer, other than it's some sort of intangible, undefinable portion of the psyche.

  2. You have a great point in saying that there is always room for improvement. I feel like I am an overall very healthy individual. However, I could not give myself a 10 in any of these three areas for the same reason that you give (there is always room for improvement). I think understanding this is the first step toward making improvements. You seem to have some great goals and very defined ways of reaching them. Good luck to you in these!

  3. Wasn't the audio great for relaxation. I love to do these guided visualizations, I always come away from them more relaxed with a greater awareness of myself and a groundedness that allows me to remain centered with a feeling of control. I too liked the idea of different colors for different body regions. The colors helped me to really visualize this.

  4. Great post Kristin. I believe your goals are doable and reachable. We you stick to it and appy it you will achieve. There are times or days you may not feel like doing anything or the hassle and life's bilows prevented you for doing so one day, don't stay there just pick it up the next day and move on and you when you get there the feeling will be so awesome, just try to keep it that way.

Don't think i am saying so because I am perfect because I am in deed talking to myself also. (some form of self encouragement).
